    Michael J. M. Lee B.A., LLB

    As a Litigator and Senior Associate of the firm, Michael Lee brings a strong depth of experience and wisdom over years of practice.

    He embraces a strong background in Commercial Litigation, Property Disputes and Litigation, Insolvency, Criminal Law and Estate Law.

    He is experienced in Sale and Purchase of Business, and Property (including retirement village sale and purchase), as well as Property Disputes including Strata, Easements, Contracts and Partnership and Shareholder and Joint Venture Agreements. He advises as to Building Disputes including Strata Disputes & Defect Claims, Mediations, CTTT Applications and Appearances before the Tribunal. He is a keen negotiator of complex agreements for management and appropriation of rural properties including advice on the reduction of stamp duty liability.

    In the areas of Company Law Michael deals with general advice, structuring formation and compliance.

    In areas of insolvency Michael is involved in general advice to insolvency practitioners as well as clients. Michael deals with Statutory Demands, the appointment of Receivers and Managers, Administrators and Liquidators. He liaises with accountants and financial advisors to assist and promote practical outcomes.

    Testamentary areas of focus include Estate Planning and Administration, and Deceased Estate litigation, Trusts and Property. This includes, drafting of Wills and Trusts, Powers of Attorney and appointments of Enduring Guardian. He advises and acts for Executors on grants of Probate and Letters of Administration, as well as for Beneficiaries and Claimants, (including charities), and Superannuation and Testamentary Trust Funds.

    He has carried out Social Work and Drug Counselling at the Bourke Street Drug Advisory Service, NSW Department of Health. His experience includes psychosocial assessment and therapy, individual, group and family therapy and counselling; medical intervention, detoxification and treatment therapies, family and public education; liaison with other service and social intervention providers including public and private services and major hospitals. As a Probation and Parole Officer he has participated in supervision and counselling; interview and assessment of victims and offenders, court appearances and as an adviser to the Parole Board and Life Sentence Board and multi-disciplinary committees.

    In keeping with the philosophy of Koffels, Michael aims at all times to conduct his practice with a commonsense approach, seeking practical solutions from a strong base of experience.
