As Supervising Practitioner of Koffels, Ross Koffel adds a unique perspective
to the firm. After attaining his Bachelor of Laws from Sydney University and a
period of practice, he spent twenty years as the CEO of a national film and advertising
company. During this time he served on the board of the organiser of the commercial
section of the Cannes Film Festival, and as a member of various industry associations in Australia.
In 1990 he returned to the law, and established the firm which was to become Koffels Solicitors
& Barristers as it is today.
Ross has extensive experience in a wide range of commercial transactions including
the establishment, purchase and sale of business, due diligence reports for business acquisition,
cross border transactions, insolvency and tax advice. He is experienced in running a
wide variety of commercial litigation in all jurisdictions including the High Court of Australia.
He has been involved in Building and Construction, Commercial Contract Disputes, Insolvency
(personal and corporate) , complex and multi jurisdictional litigation, Consumer Law, Corporate
and Personal Tax including GST, Fraud, Equity and Trusts, Professional Negligence,
Personal Injury, Medical Negligence, Media Law, Entertainment Law, Sports Injury,
Land & Environment, and has appeared in a variety of inquiries and inquests.
Ross has prepared cases for insurance underwriters, reports as to liability and risk analysis
and reports as to limitation of liability. He also has been extensively involved in mediation
and arbitration and is an excellent negotiator and tactician.
Ross' family sporting experience in the Olympic disciplines of equestrian competition has
put him in a unique position to represent clients in this niche area of law providing advice
in the areas of Litigation, Insurance, International Transactions, Sale and Purchase, Professional
Negligence, Lease and Contractural arrangements.
Ross brings a commercially realistic approach to the firm offering practical solutions
to client concerns. He has been responsible for a number of landmark decisions in the
areas of Tax and Insolvency.
